About Dr. Zeba Waqar Warraich

Dr Zeba Waqar Warraich, an imminent scholar with a brilliant academic background, is actively involved in Dawah and is the founder of An Nisa Islamic Institute. She, the daughter of Colonel Basharat Ali, learnt from his example diligence and hard work, willpower and perseverance, honesty, discipline, punctuality and deep love for the country and the Muslim Ummah.

Undergraduate Studies: She, with her God gifted intelligence and diligence paved an educational career of outstanding achievements, has always been a high academic achiever. She secured 3rd position in Lahore Board in her Matriculation Examination and obtained a silver medal. She joined The Lahore College for Women University for her intermediate and obtained a silver medal securing 3rd position all over again in the Lahore Board. By the grace of Allah in 1987 she graduated in flying colors with a silver medal for standing 3rd in MBBS Punjab University Examinations and a Presidential Gold Medal for topping in Gynecology.

Post Graduate Studies: She was offered a Presidential Scholarship in the Royal College (UK) for her post graduate studies, but by then married and a mother of a son, feeling her family commitments she refused this life time opportunity. Motivated and strongly supported by her husband, she joined her post graduate studies in Gynecology. Once again Allah blessed her with an achievement of obtaining a Gold medal for topping the Post Graduate Medical Institute. Her husband Waqar Nadeem Warraich, who himself is actively working for the implementation of Islam, has always been a source of immense motivation, guidance and support for her.

Islamic Studies: Once free from her medical studies, she started reading Tafheem ul Quran (which she always quotes is the best gift she ever received from her parents). She found inspiration in this Tafseer and the writings of Syed Abu al Ala’ Maududi which motivated her in the quest to learn more about Islam. After realizing the deficit of her knowledge of the religion she set a target to read and learn more about her religion. She took guidance from some renowned scholars and joined a Quran course at the Islamic Institute and it was from here that she started her journey of Dawah.

Her Teachings: Her teaching of Quran excel in a beautiful blend of Urdu and English, linking the message of Quran with modern and medical sciences, social problems, current and day-to-day domestic issues. By her fluency and eloquence of speech and superb memory she manages to quote Hadith, the enlightening examples and incidences of Rasool ul Allah (saw) and his companions. This remarkably adds to the effectiveness of her Dawah.

Methodology: Dr Zeba is a strong believer that the cause of all social, economic, political, educational and all other current problems at all levels is due to the lack of knowledge of Quran and Hadith. She believes that the solution only lies in the four steps mentioned in Quran and adopted by Rasool ul Allah (saw).

"And, our Lord, raise in their midst a Messenger from among them, who should recite to them Your verses, and teach them the Book and the wisdom, and make them pure. Indeed You, and You alone, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise." (2:129)

The steps being: Tilawat ul Quran, Teaching of Quran , teaching of Hiqmah and Hadith and purifying from sins.

Identifying the problem and realizing the solution, she made it her mission not only to teach Quran and Hadith but to also prepare Mualimaat who could impart the knowledge of Quran and Hadith. She decided that instead of generating finances from her qualification, she should utilize her knowledge and skills to preach Quran and Hadith to the educated and intellectual class of the society, as to change the state of affairs the support of this class is definitely needed. Just as the Prophet (saw) was supported in his case by some influencials of Makkah like Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA), Hazrat Umar (RA) and Hazrat Hamza (RA). Hence she has laid all her time and efforts for the cause of Dawah.

She has also founded an organization by the name of Al Hasna, to use her medical skills for which she feels she is accountable. Al Hasna examines, provides free medical advices to poor patients and monetarily supports their treatments.

Dr. Zeba along with being a mother of three children and looking after all her domestic issues also manages to run the organizations successfully Alhumdullilah, is an inspiration for all the to date educated women of today’s Islamic world.
